Ice detector is only sensitive to certain kinds of ice build up. Aircraft accumulated about .5 inch of ice with no warning before I bottled out and turned the airframe on. On ground system checked - found working OK. Also system often alerts at 8 or 9 degrees TAT.

Once established on ILS if you notice inbound QDM is selected wrongly (even 1 degree), any attempt to correct it will result in autopilot dropping out and a/c reverting to HDG/ALT mode.

If the ANTI-SKID test button is depressed for a very short time the test circuits think a fault has occurred and the light remains on. To clear the warning and do a valid test depress the test button again (about 1 - 2 secs is fine) and the light should go out. If it remains on you have a valid fault !!.

After refuelling, always ensure that all lights go out and fuel quantity gauges go blank when you switch off the panel. DO NOT use the switch block on the fuelling panel door to switch off the panel as you close the door. If you suffer a failure of an overflow valve during fuelling, all overflow valves will remain open and lights on despite the fuelling panel being switched off. In this condition no warning will be displayed in the flight deck, but fuel will start to be vented out of the open overflow valves as you get airbourne. You will lose about 750KGs per minute (based on our recent experience!!!).

If your PFD/NAV/or MFDU screens become dull and difficult to see, try shining a torch directly into the small white dot in the corner of the frame. This is the ambient light detector and will reset the auto brillience for the screen. This should make it better for a few minutes at least. (This tip might well work for other aircraft screens as well !!).
